About the artists:

Hilary Basing was born in Kalamazoo, MI in 1979 and currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. In 2002, she received her BFA in film/video from Pratt Institute. Her work in photography and video aims to trivialize the distinctions between male and female, examine the polarities of time and place, and employ nostalgia as a stylistic element through a variety of androgynous characters. Her muses range from aerobic goddesses, singers and performers, talk show hosts, and activists, including Jane Fonda, Tyra Banks, Oprah Winfrey and Richard Butler.
